Info:
This was my friend Matt Pain's passion project. Filming and following Norway's top snowboarders for two years. I worked along side him and his crew with the films name conception, some editing, art direction as well as a couple of exciting shoots. Within the teaser edits and overall Art Direction we tried to infuse these thoughts:

"There are logical reasons that could get the audience into believing, that these guys are the best in the world and probably remain so purely because of where they are from. This bit of rock, Norway is on the edge of the world, it lies brooding in darkness covered to sea level in snow over the winter months. But the riders live for this, they are the brave new conquerors holding the flame of the Norwegian spirit. The riders and this film will ignite a whole new generation of snowboarders".

Info:
One of New Zealand's leading independent film and television production companies, The Gibson Group. needed a new high definition end tag. After discussing a few directions the end tag could take, we went with a simple and fresh approach. Pulling focus to the eyes, which are symbolic of what Gibson Group does and act as the main identifiers for their logo.

 Info:
A fathers voice echoes in the shadows of the past and the winds of the present. An abstract coming of age story set in the isolated arctic land of Norway.

Tim is a high school friend from New Zealand. I had been listening to his music while living in Norway and it struck me how much the mood of his melodies fitted with the sparse and strange landscape.

Over 6 days I drove alone around Lofoten, filming odd things and sleeping in the car. Immersing myself in the silence - broken occasionally by loud cracks of ice, rumbling through the fjords.

An unforgettable experience but next time I think I will just go to the beach.

Info:
Handle the Jandal is an annual ceremony that celebrates New Zealand film, music and the Do It Yourself culture. This Introduction sequence was co-directed with Lucas Brooking and made along side the good people at Kraft:Haus Films. I was involved through the whole piece from animatic to animation, also having a crack at the vehicle designs and illustrations.

We found them in the bush, sand dunes, under wooden houses and in the sea, those ones smelt like vinegar after a while.

Each bottle had fallen into its own unique place and had its own unique story. I would imagine the people of the past, lying on the valley floor sipping away lazily in the shade of the hot summer sun.

I'm still collecting and searching for those rare bottles. Except now I fill and seal them with my own stories.

I am currently working as an Art Director at Gosu Design in Oslo, Norway. This means I work on all the big TV programs, such as "Celebrity Brown Cheese" and "Moose", to name a few. It's a cool job with super creative and fun people.

In my spare time, I like pushing into other creative areas, such as directing, photography and a few crafty numbers. Here, you will find selections of my favorite work, made whilst living both abroad in Europe and in my homeland, New Zealand.
